BEAUTY: my top 7 ride or die make up products.

know, okay, I’m already getting predictable.  First a Lush post, and now my top 7 make up products?  Who am I?

I dunno.  Just a girl who likes to have nice skin, I guess.

Anyway… I have more make up than I need.  Way more, actually.  If I could get back all the money I’ve spent on makeup in my life I could buy… I don’t even want to think about it.  The point is, in those three giant makeup bags there are seven products that are always there for me.

My main squeezes.

My ride or dies.

They seem like a good place to start.

Processed with VSCO with m3 presetI just bought this foundation a little while ago, but I’m already hooked.  I actually went into Sephora to buy the one from Kat Von D’s line, but they didn’t have my colour in stock.  A friend of mine got me a sample of it when I complained about the redness of my skin.  I know I mentioned this last night as well, and I definitely intend to write a full post about it soon… for now though, just take my word for it; it’s very red.

Anyway, I really liked the Kat Von D one, but when they were out of stock one of the ladies in Sephora suggested I try Urban Decay’s All Nighter instead.

I have to use a really firm foundation brush and only the tiniest bit in order to avoid it looking cakey.  Usually when I finish I take a dual fibre brush (the one I have is from MAC) over it in big circles to get rid of any brush strokes. The coverage is AMAZING – so good, in fact, that instead of using concealer over pimples I just dab a little extra foundation over them now.

Anything that eliminates a step from my routine is an instant fave.

While we’re on the topic of skin, let’s talk contour.Processed with VSCO with m3 preset

…I’m not sure how to feel.

It’s a big thing right now, I get that, and I can definitely appreciate a solid contour… but for me personally, subtle is the way to go.  That’s why I use powder blush.
I use MAC blush in “harmony” for mine.  I like it because it’s right in the middle of brown and red… brown would definitely clash with my skin tone, and if it were pink it wouldn’t serve much purpose… so, this is the perfect shade for me.  And, as a bonus, it looks great in the crease of my eyelids, too.
For highlighter I like Sephora’s “light beam”.  It’s definitely very sparkly, so if that’s not the look you’re going for, this might not be the one for you (in that case Revlon has a really nice one that is more shiny and less sparkles, and NYX’s liquid illuminator is great too!).

this photo is so dark, I apologize… this is MAC blacktrack and NYX embellishment.

If you know me you know that I rarely leave the house without a thick black cat-eye going. I’ve been doing my makeup more or less like this since 10th grade and I show no signs of stopping!  I’ve tried lots of different types of liquid eyeliner, but at the end of the day I always come back to MAC’s gel liner in “blacktrack”.  MAC is my all time favourite makeup brand, but it’s hardly affordable for a student, unfortunately.  If you – like me – are on a student budget (and, unlike me, did not receive a MAC gift card for your last birthday) I’d definitely recommend NYX’s matte liquid liner!  Another thing you’ll learn about me is that I am the world’s biggest NYX fan.  Not only is it super affordable, but all of their products come in so many amazing colours, and their staff is always super badass.

Speaking of NYX, my last three faves are from them – surprise, surprise.

Firstly, their tame and frame brow pomade.  I bought this pretty recently too, but I already can’t live without it.  I find it’s not super solid looking, so I usually fill in my brows with brown eyeshadow first… then I take the pomade on an angle brush, brush it over, and BAM, brows are on fleek.
I also use their mascara.  I bought a big pack of four different ones for twenty dollars, but

I made this one extra small because it’s the worst one… I’m still working on my photography skills.

the ‘stacked’ one is my favourite.  It’s the perfect combination of length and volume, and never clumpy.  Yes please!

Finally, of course… my all time favourite lipstick.  Of ALL TIME.

… NYX Lip Lingerie, in Embellishment.

I love this lipstick possibly more than I love myself.  It is beautiful.  The texture is so creamy and smooth, and the colour is the perfect purple/grey colour and it wears all day and I could go on about this forever.  I have a few of the Lip Lingeries, but this colour is my all time favourite.

Can you tell?

SO anyway, there you have it… my seven faves… my go-tos… my ride or dies.  I swear I couldn’t live without them.

What are the most important things in your makeup bag?  What could you not live without?  And have you ever tried any of my faves – what did you think?

Let me know.  Talk soon!
